IN THE NEWS

The announcement from the new Chancellor to bring back housebuilding targets has been broadly welcomed by the holiday let industry, highlighting that holiday lets represent a small proportion of total housing.

Industry bodies such as PASC have also highlighted the need to push through the previously proposed mandatory registration scheme; as-long as it is fit for purpose.

Meanwhile in Scotland, Fiona Campbell from The ASSC is continuing to highlight that the existing Scottish licensing policy isn’t fit for purpose and is highlighting that “there has to be real, tangible change otherwise more small indigenous Scottish businesses will continue to close, it is as simple as that.”

NatWest has introduced new "Airbnb-friendly" mortgage terms, making it easier for homeowners to rent out their properties on short-term rental platforms like Airbnb. This move marks a significant shift in the UK mortgage market, as it allows NatWest customers to rent out their entire property for up to 90 days per year without requiring specific permission from the bank.
