IN THE NEWS

Whilst our industry bodies and owners petition local MPs and Government regarding the proposed abolition of FHL Allowances, Francis Clarke have written a good article that summarises the tax implications of the proposed changes as-well as a few case studies.

Skift conducted an interview with Airbnbā€™s CEO Brian Chesky. Within the interview they delve in to the difference between Superhosts and Guest Favourites (spoiler - Guest Favourites are property specific, Superhosts arenā€™t!), their new ā€˜Iconsā€™ property category and more.

TrustedStays have started a guest referral programme, allowing owners to earn up to 5% by referring leads to other hosts within their network.

Growing Beyond ChatGPT - How Are Property Managers Utilising AI?

Hereā€™s the result of a straw poll survey we recently completed asking hosts and owners how much they currently utilise ChatGPT or Artificial Intelligence as part of their activities.

If you have not currently explored some of the practical ways you can use ChatGPT we have previously written an article on how you can practically use AI and ChatGPT to improve your listing, create and enhance marketing ideas and improve responses to negative reviews.

Based upon a Zoom presentation hosted by Rental ScaleUp and PriceLabs, and inputs from Host & Stay, Boom Now and AIPEX Technologies I have also written an article on ways you can use AI and ChatGPT to further enhance your short-term rental business.

The article covers:

  1. Improving properties and guest experience by using Zapier and ChatGPT to analyse guest reviews

  2. Increase booking conversion rates by using Adaptive AI

  3. Providing an interactive ā€˜chatā€™ experience for guests by using tools such as Boom Now or AIPEX Technologies

We all want to be able to take practical steps towards providing a more eco-friendly holiday let for our guests, however this isnā€™t always feasible or cost-effective. The amount of information readily available is also still not that great.

Within our interactive inventory list we have a eco-friendly category that provides products that have eco-friendly credentials.

I was recently made aware about products that contain PFAS (Per- or Poly-Fluorinated Alkyl Substances). These are also sometimes called ā€˜forever chemicalsā€™ as essentially they will never break down.

The PFAS free project is run by Fidra, a UK environmental charity working to reduce chemical and plastic pollution in our seas, on our beaches and in the wider environment.

Within their website they have a directory of PFAS free products that you can explore, this includes products for baking, cookware and furniture.

You can find out more about PFAS free products here:
