šŸ  How to boost repeat bookings

And Airbnb is pushing back against the increasing restrictions across the globe

šŸ‘‹ Hello and welcome to Autumn šŸ‚ which seems to have hit us all of a sudden!

Can I be honest with you? Iā€™ve had a busy few weeks. A combination of a much needed family holiday, being away with work for a week doing 12 hour days, a family wedding and finally picking up a nasty cough / virus - Itā€™s been pretty full on!

Irrespective, itā€™s a pleasure and a service to provide you with useful tips, news and information that helps you run and improve your holiday let business.

See you next Saturday at 5pm?

IN THE NEWS

Abolition of FHL Tax Allowances

No particular new news this week, whilst trade associations continue to build a body of evidence that can be used in planned further discussions with government officials.

If you haven't yet, PASC are encouraging owners to sign the petition to give them a stronger voice in government discussions.

Through PASC, Francis Clark has created a new FAQ guide which can be seen here. This might help answer some of the specific questions you have. If it doesnā€™t, please hit reply and let me know what your question is and I can try and source an answer for you?

How To Boost Repeat Bookings By Contacting Guests After Their Stay

You will likely know the old (and true!) saying that the easiest way to get more business is to get additional business from existing clients.

We openly recognise that a good number of guests are unlikely to return to your area or property in the near future; however for every ten that donā€™t, there may be one that will. And what if you could capture a repeat booking by some gentle marketing?

How Many Existing Owners Contact Guests After Their Stay?

We completed a straw poll on Facebook that gained over 200 responses that provided an interesting snapshot :

  • 72% of hosts donā€™t contact guests after a stay and donā€™t chase for reviews (noting that some of these will be through Airbnb with Airbnb automatically sending review requests)

  • 18% only contact guests to gain a review

  • 10% actively contact guests after their stay

What Are The Benefits Of Repeat Bookings?

Some of the benefits of repeat bookings can be seen as :

  • Increased revenue - Gain additional bookings with zero marketing costs

  • Grow loyal customers - Repeat guests may also drive additional referrals

  • Reduced booking fees - If you are able to (legally) offer direct booking you could save on OTA fees
